Due to its religious importance, Qom is a city that is open to immigrants and many foreign Muslim nationals reside in it. In addition, Qom is one of the most important religious tourism destinations and attracts countless pilgrims annually.

The city is located in a desert region and therefore has an almost semi-desert climate.
