Aibek Junushaliev

Mayor: Aibek Junushaliev

Aibek Junushaliev, born in 1976, is a Kyrgyz statesman and politician, serving as Mayor of Bishkek. He was first elected as Mayor of Bishkek in 2021 and re-elected in 2023. He has a degree in law and has previously worked in many state positions, including as First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Bishkek is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is situated near  Kyrgyz Ala-Too Mountain Range along the Chüy river.

The establishment of Biskek as a settlement dates back to 1825 as a fortress and it was in early 1900s that the city developed as a capital.

Bishkek is famous for its wide tree-lined streets and permanent mountainous view.

The economy in Bishkek is primarily agricultural and it is the administrative, cultural, commercial and educational hub of Kyrgyzstan.
